Giordana Drago
Bio:
I am a passionate and creative language instructor with a strong international background, having worked and traveled in various countries such as Austria, Spain, Brazil, and Peru. These experiences have shaped not only my teaching approach but also my personal philosophy. I believe that effective language learning goes beyond traditional methods. My lessons are designed to be dynamic and engaging: real-life situations, cultural references, and multimedia resources.
My teaching methodology:
My teaching background:
I have extensive experience in education, working as a private English tutor and online tutor in Italian. Speaking about the field of education, I worked in kindergarden in Vienna, and as an au pair in Spain, teaching English and Italian. These roles helped me understand learning processes and develop techniques for all age groups. Having obtained several language certifications and attended various courses in languages, including university, I experienced the student’s point of view. My lessons are interactive and aim to build a peer-like relationship, making students feel comfortable and engaged. I focus on grammar, vocabulary, and oral practice, emphasizing real-world communication over rote learning. I use both formal and informal language, for sure it won't be the old-fashoned italian, and adapt lessons to student needs—whether academic, professional, or travel-related. Materials include exercises, videos, films, music, and cultural content to support comprehensive learning.
My background outside of teaching:
I am a creative person who has always been eager to learn and experiment. I have traveled and worked in various countries: Austria, Spain, Brazil, and Peru, meeting people and experiencing completely different cultures. I learned the languages I know mainly through my travels rather than at university, and they taught me that the most important aspect of the learning process is humility: listening, practice, and dedication are the key words. I In my freetime I paint, dance, play the piano, and I am currently dedicating myself to photography as well. Literature and history are two of my great passions: every time I learn a new language, I can’t wait to discover its poets and the history of the country, with the hope of one day having the opportunity to visit it. For this reason, when I teach Italian, I want to share not only exercises but also the history of my country, interesting facts, authors, films, and songs. Every language has its own beauty, and it is worth celebrating!
